Follow the Light Experience Trail and experience Bruges as you have never seen it before.

For the fifth year in a row now, we let Bruges shine during Winter Glow with a beautiful light trail.
The new Light experience trail 'Aurora', inspired by the Northern Lights, is a warm winter walk of 2.5 km along 10 unique light installations. The route passes by some hidden yet surprising places in the city. Connected by a blue glow, you are immersed in a different world at each installation and experience a moment of emotion and wonder.

During the end-of-year period, the entire city centre of Bruges is very busy.

The Light experience trail does not run along a car-free route; along due to its great success, pedestrians may walk on the carriageway. Thank you as motorists to take this into account and exercise caution.

Waterdrops

Young and young-at-heart can have some great fun at this interactive display. Dance, jump, hop or plop down on the water droplets to see what symphony of colours emerges!

Whispering Birds

📍 Minneboplein

Surrounded by Bruges' many twinkles, an orchestra of birds brings the day gently to an end. Their luminous nest shows them the way to where they will safely spend the night, eagerly awaiting what the day will bring them tomorrow.

An interplay of a soothing ripple across the Bruges water and video projection will let the audience dream themselves away for a moment. Be entranced by the sparkles that create a unique Winter Glow.

Heartbeats

Alone, with friends, family or in an alliance forged on-location, you can now become a part of Winter Glow yourself. Let everyone enjoy the moment your heartbeat sets the atmosphere in St Walburga's Church.

Grid

Surrounded by tranquillity, nature and romantic bridges, this installation provides an unexpected layering to the trail. One of the most charming spots in Bruges is temporarily being given an extra dimension by beams of light forming a dynamic grid.

Circle of Life

For centuries, Bruges' waterways have been true veins of the city. A holographic circle represents an artistic interpretation of how it provides life for the trees. Reflection, fog and projection on and beside the water show an enchanting story.

Admire this visual spectacle in which all the colours of Winter Glow blend together, with particles of light bringing the architecture of the Municipal Theatre to life in an elegant choreography.

Story of the Swan

Immerse yourself in this poetic love story of two swans on Bruges' waterways. The vista of the canals makes for a unique performance that is sure to create a moment of wonder.

Mystery, beauty and wonder. Immerse yourself in the magic of the underwater world and look up to enjoy the spectacle unfolding on the surface.

Cuniculus

Surrounded and gently propelled by an interplay of light and sound, you will be led away from Burg Square. Soft shades of colour complement the Aurora palette, enveloping you in a blanket of warmth on your way to the next moment of wonder.
