Museum of Witchcraft
Witches, wizards and magic have fascinated since time immemorial. From magicians in ancient Egypt to witchcraft in Europe and contemporary wicca. At the Museum of Witchcraft, discover how witches evolved from respected goddesses to victims of fear and persecution. Holograms, lifelike dolls and artefacts paint a historical picture and show how different cultures viewed witchcraft in the past, and how they view them today. Showpieces include an original witches’ scales from 1638 and a 'ducking stool', which was used to hold the heads of suspected witches under water until they confessed.
